In honor of the Silver Spring Library’s annual BOOKFEST this Saturday, this week at APISS it is all about books and children, all the time. Interviews with authors, giveaways of children’s literature and upcoming events for your early readers and baby bookworms will dominate the mommy missives. Stay tuned!
Here are the details on Bookfest at the Silver Spring Library on Saturday 10/25 from 10am-3pm:
All day Used book sale with thousands of books, $1.50 for most hardbacks, 50 cents-$1 for paperbacks. Last year my son and I came home with eight like-new hardcover titles by authors Kevin Henkes, Mother Goose, Beatrix Potter and Rosemary Wells and I only left the house with a ten-spot in my back pocket. There was also a free box of kids’ titles, joy of joys!
All day Yummy bake sale. Brownies + books = heaven.
11am Storytelling by Diane Macklin, nationally-acclaimed storyteller with an engaging, interactive style for all ages. I can attest that she is truly amazing. My son saw her once and is still in love; for four years old, he has great taste.
1-3pm Kids craft: make your own bookmarks
2pm Reading by teen author & master wolf howlter Annette Curtis Klause
10:30-11:30am, 1:30-2:30pm Demos of the library’s online resources
This great event is sponsored by The Friends of the Library, Silver Spring Chapter, and the Silver Spring Library Advisory Committee. For more information, please call 240-773-9420.
