Takoma Park Cooperative Nursery School has openings in the pre-kindergarten (4/5-year old class) class for the 2009-2010 school year. This 4/5s program guides and supports children as they develop the important skills needed for kindergarten and meets afternoons Monday-Friday from 12-3pm. St. John the Evangelist School in Silver Spring has room in its afternoon Tuesday and Thursday 3 year old class, its Monday-Friday morning 4 year old class and its Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon 4 year old class. Afternoon enrichment is offered to both 4 year old classes as well. This Catholic school’s preschool program helps each child to develop socially, emotionally, academically and spiritually. The curriculum emphasizes age-appropriate, multi-sensory activities that facilitate both cooperation and independence. The curriculum is organized into themes that promote exploration into language arts, science, mathematics, art, music and social studies. Crossway Community Montessori School in Kensington is strongly considering adding a new program for next year, a morning 2’s program. Holy Cross School in Garrett Park has openings for the Pre K class, and in other grades as well. Holy Cross School is a Catholic parochial school for Pre-Kindergarten through grade 8. All instruction adheres closely to the curriculum guidelines of the Archdiocese of Washington and the state of Maryland. These guidelines are continually revised and enhanced to meet the expanding needs of students as we begin this new millennium.
