Linky Love: Just Up the Pike on "the" Jimmie Cone

You guys have to read Dan Reed of Just Up the Pike's piece on the Jimmie Cone in Damascus. I've been hearing stories since moving to DC of the nostalgic, delicious ice cream and sprinkles this country stand serves. Another thing I always hear is a "the" before people say the name, adding to the retro factor. The prices are throw backs too: an extra-small cone with jimmies (sprinkles) for your kiddo is only $1.33. Here's the official Jimmie Cone website.Dan's post makes me want to head up there with Read more...

APISS in The Washington Times

Last week I spoke to Karen Goldberg Goff of The Washington Times on a story of how parents help each other out during the summer months for playdates and babysitting. Also quoted are the incredible Devra Renner of Parentopia and the admirable Lenore Skenazy of FreeRange Kids. Well, actually the anniversary occurred earlier this month, but amongst the craziness of our lives we postponed the date night celebration to this weekend.I still feel like a married rookie in some ways. If we were headed to Gaithersburg or Germantown, I wouldn't be able to handle the acronym. I mean, I have no problem aligning myself with urine, but I draw the line at the porcine. So while we're getting high off the fumes of packing tape and Sharpies, please to enjoy these great family activities.FRIDAY NIGHTRock Read more...
