This piece is located in the new Forbes Woman section of the financial magazine and website, and part of August’s Best Cities for Working Mothers issue. The Washington, DC area is ranked as #17 in the nation, based upon an increase in federal jobs, low unemployment and the highest per-capita income on the list. See the complete slideshow list here.

As someone who has never made serious money, neither when I was working full-time outside the home nor now as a part-time writer and stay at home mom, the notion of appearing in Forbes is astounding to me.

However, you can’t put a price tag on the importance of information, resources and connectivity when raising children. Being able to play a part in helping others access local parenting information and have fun with their kids? That’s why I log on and ramble here each day.
