I have a piece in The Washington Post Weekend tomorrow about all of the fire station open houses and Fire Prevention Week fun for families across the DC area.

At Open Houses, Fight Fires With Family Fun

Where can kids climb on firetrucks, don authentic-looking firefighter hats and even “put out” pretend fires using a real fire hose? On weekends during October, the answer may well be your neighborhood fire station.

Sunday through Oct. 10 is National Fire Prevention Week (http://www.nfpa.org), when fire and rescue officials remind us all to test our smoke alarms, prepare our family escape plans and teach our kids about stop, drop and roll.
