You’ve heard about ZooLights, right, the the National Zoo’s winter celebration that runs through January 2^nd? Well, one lucky reader of A Parent in Silver Spring will win tickets to one of the biggest and best nights of ZooLights – ZOOTRITION this Saturday night December 12 from 6 – 8:30 p.m.!

Zootrition is a night of hands-on nutrition learning and goodie giveaways, sponsored by Giant Food, and is the highlight of the National Zoo’s ZooLights celebration. Kids will learn fun stuff like how does the daily diet of a gorilla compare to that of human? Why do snakes eat less in winter than in summer?

There will be demonstrations by the Zoo’s commissary staff and Giant nutritionists, animated lights, 500 carolers from Giant stores across the DC area (performing at 8 p.m. at Lemur Island), and other live entertainment. Awesome scavenger hunt stations will be located in the Small Mammal House, the Great Apes Building, the Reptile Discovery Center, and the Mane Restaurant.

And all throughout ZooLights, the Fujifilm Giant Panda Habitat will be open for extended hours for those who wish to bid farewell to young Tai Shan before he departs for China in early 2010.

Even if you don’t win the APISS free family pack of tickets, regular tickets are only $5 for Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) members and $8 for nonmembers AND the first 1,000 guests to check in on Saturday night will receive a free, reusable tote bag! Buy tickets here.
