Cabin Fever Cure – Disney on Ice This Weekend at The Verizon Center

Minnie on Ice

So tomorrow’s another day of family togetherness and board games and praying that the lights don’t flicker.  But eventually this snowmania will end, so we’re already prepping for the weekend fun at our house.

We’re going to hit Disney on Ice.

Disney On Ice 100 Years of Magic is coming to the Verizon Center starting Thursday evening (the Wednesday and Thursday morning shows have been canceled due to weather.) My kids and I have enjoyed these big awesome performances twice in the past year and I highly recommend them for families with kids toddler through elementary school.

Although we won’t be in sunny Florida or California’s magical kingdoms, at least we’ll be able to grab a couple hours of entertainment with Mickey, Minnie, those skating Princesses, the Toy Story crew and more Disney characters.  And all four us will sure use a special out-of-the-house treat after being cooped up inside for days on end!

Last year my kids met Mr. & Mrs. Incredible right before the show started. Check out the kids’ super hero stances – they’re channeling Violet and Dash.

With The Incredibles

My kids love the kid-friendly theatrics of big performances like Disney on Ice.  They’re always full of questions. “Mickey and Minnie know how to ice skate?” “Will Mickey be a cartoon or a real guy?” I tried to explain that though wearing costumes, the magic of Disney cast members is the minute you see them, you forget that and they miraculously are the characters you see on television and movies. As soon as the show started, the kids completely understood.
