MomzShare and Mom Blogging: A Great Way to Connect…and Great Way to Party

This month I’m quoted very flatteringly in an article on mom blogging in the awesome Maryland Life magazine article, “It Takes A (Virtual) Village.”

This honor was in no small part to connecting this past autumn with the article’s author, the incredible freelance writer and fellow mom blogger Jennifer Gerlock of Hip As I Wanna Be.  (Are you reading Hip As I Wanna Be?  Because it is a great site on balancing all of the push and pull of mothering while still keeping your sense of self intact – you’ve got to subscribe.)

And as if Jennifer doesn’t have enough going on, what with raising her kids, writing up a storm and founding the online/social media network Maryland Mom Bloggers, she and the also multi-talented and amazing Lara DiPaula of Chicken Nuggets of Wisdom have started a new networking venture.

In this new networking group, women who blog/have a blog promoting their business/are thinking of jumping on the blog bandwagon get together once a quarter in person and have a party. Totally for free.  It’s called MomzShare. It’s for real and it’s spectacular.

The first MomzShare event was held at Jennifer’s home one week ago.  In attendance were 40 or so female bloggers getting to know each other, discussing their craft, networking…OK, we were mainly sipping wine, laughing and completely goofing off.  It was awesome.  Check out the rad photos from the night here.  Sponsors donated door prizes like a free professional blog graphic design and web hosting (wow!), baskets of pampering products from La Papillon Spa & Gift Boutique and goodie bag swag like bottles of delicious Tarara wine.

And the next MomzShare event?  With Jennifer and Lara’s MomzShare ringleader help, I’m hosting it along with the wonderful Andrew and Paula of Great Kids VillageThe fun is going down on Saturday night, May 22 from 7:30-9:30pm at Great Kids Village Silver Spring. If you’re a mom blogger or would like to be (come out of the closet and just embrace it) then save the date and watch for registration information and more details on A Parent in Silver Spring and Hip As I Wanna Be coming soon.

And who knows?  You could see your name in Maryland Life magazine too.  And score a few bevvies, swag bags and dozen or more new friends in the process.  I’ve definitely had worse hobbies.
