Free Fishing and Outdoor Fun for Families at Fletcher’s Boathouse on the C&O Canal on April 24

You can also go fishing and boating at Fletcher’s Cove and other places throughout the DC area in Spring – here’s the article I wrote in The Washington Post on local resources for canoeing and fishing fun.

The Family & Youth Casting Call on Saturday April 24 is a hands-on chance for kids of all ages to fish, play games and have fun – all while learning about the great outdoors.  It’s hosted by the American Fly Fishing Trade Association and National Park Service’s. Mark your calendars for this super event.

On this action-packed day, families will be provided with all the tools and training necessary to catch fish in the C&O Canal. When not fishing, children will “Explore, Learn and Protect” in order to receive their National Park Service Junior Ranger Badge through activities like water quality testing, fly casting and fly tying, fish art, casting practice, learning about live critters and so much more!

It’s a great day of family fun for all ages – and best of all, it’s FREE!

When: Saturday April 24, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
