Huggies Every Little Bottom Program Gets Millions of Diapers to Babies in Need

Can you imagine having to choose between feeding your child and changing her diaper?

In the United States, one in three mothers have had to make that choice.

Huggies® and its parent company, Kimberly-Clark, commissioned the Every Little Bottom study and found that many, many families are desperately in need of clean, dry diapers. The study revealed

  • 1 in 3 moms have had to cut back on basics such as food and electricity to provide enough diapers for their babies.
  • Mothers have had to miss work due to diaper need, as most day care facilities require a day’s worth of diapers – thereby perpetuating the diaper need cycle.
  • Mothers without enough diapers will attempt to reuse soiled diapers, extend the time the child is in a used diaper and other measures that effect the quality of life of the child and the guilt and distress of the mother.

This is heartbreaking and unacceptable.

And Huggies agrees.  In the next eight months, Huggies will donate a diaper for every pack sold. That means up to 22.5 million diapers will go to babies in need in the U.S. and Canada.  Today Huggies is taking the first step in the donation process and providing 2 million diapers to 10 diaper banks throughout the U.S., and donating 500,000 diapers in Canada.

Basically, Huggies is giving away $5 million dollars to help families and children in need.

Therefore, when Huggies asked me to help spread the word about this program, my first response was “OMG yes and how the heck can I help?”  And thus, I have signed on to be a Huggies Every Little Bottom Blog Ambassador.  In the coming months, I’ll be working to promote the program and passing along on A Parent in Silver Spring.com ways that we as parents can get involved to help diaper those bottoms.

Because in helping babies in need have access to clean diapers, we’re also helping to ensure those babies are fed, clothed and that their parents can get to work and support their kids in the way that I, for one, take completely for granted.

Are you pumped to get involved?  I’ll be passing along information on how we can host diaper drives, how we can participate in existing local and national activities, and where to take diaper donations in our communities. You can also read more about the program at Every Little Bottom.com, and follow Huggies on Twitter (#elb) and friend Huggies on Facebook.

Together, we can get literally millions of diapers to babies in need.

Disclosure: As an official Blog Ambassador I am a selected social media partner for the Huggies Every Little Bottom campaign. I am compensated for my time as a consultant to the program. However, the content and thoughts shared in this post are my own.
