Model Train Exhibit for Families September 10-11, 2011 to Benefit Noyes Children’s Library

When Charlie was a toddler and preschooler, NOTHING in the world fascinated him more than attending a model train exhibit. The moving trains, the tiny details, he would be engrossed for hours.

And he still enjoys hitting a model train display, even at the ancient age of almost eight. Thankfully, there is a great one this weekend, for an even greater cause.

From the Noyes Children’s Library Foundation

Small trains mean big-time fun as a huge model railroad layout chugs into Kensington Town Hall on September 10 and 11. A benefit for the Noyes Children’s Library Foundation and the Kensington Historical Society, the exhibit of “O” Gauge electric trains will stretch approximately 40 feet wide by 68 feet long. The incredible railroad layout, set up by the National Capital Trackers, will include two turntables and five main lines, with multiple trains running at one time. The event celebrates the 120th anniversary of Kensington’s historical train station and supports efforts to keep open the historic Noyes Children’s Library. It is sponsored by Gary and Diana Ditto of Long and Foster Realtors and the Town of Kensington.

The exhibit is open from 11:30am-5pm on Saturday, September 10, and Sunday, September 11, at Kensington Town Hall (3710 Mitchell Street, Kensington, MD). Admission is $5 adults; $2 children; $10 family. Proceeds will go directly to the Noyes Children’s Library Foundation and the Kensington Historical Society.

Does anyone recall the old P.D. Crafthouse train store in Silver Spring back in the 1970s? They had a HUGE model railroaders group layout downstairs. I loved this layout and always wondered what happened to it when the store closed. Last I heard it was in storage waiting to be reassembled someplace else. Any indfo?

having side-effects , people could take a signal. Will likely be back
