GapKids Back to School Parties for DC-area Families

It’s officially BTS (that’s Back to School) season. My kids and I have been hitting the dollar store and Staples for items on the class supply list, the shoe store for new sneaks and one of our regular stops for new school clothes is GapKids and the GapOutlet store at the beach.

I like the classic styles, how long the clothes last, and the ability to find everyday items for all three of my children in a manageable, well-organized space. Eight-year-old Charlie likes that the boy styles are “cool and not babyish” and Eve is our fashionista and loves all the “fashiony” touches. Alice sports babyGap hand-me-downs from both kids that are in great condition after countless washes and playground visits.

As a blogger, I sometimes get invited to special parties featuring back to school fashions and products. Just this past weekend I attended BlogHer and got a preview of fall fashions by both The Children’s Place and Lands’ End, thanks to off-site events hosted by MomTrends.  These events are fabulous fun and help me formulate what my kids really need for the new year, and devise new combos of clothes items already in their closets.

I have an invitation from GapKids for YOU to attend some of those great parties too!  They are called the GapKid Shine on Saturday parties and there are THREE here in the DC area! They are totally free, and look totally fun.

The first GapKids Shine on Saturday is this Saturday, August 11, at the Georgetown GapKids, the next is Saturday, August 18 at the GapKids at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, and the final party is on Saturday, August 25 at the GapKids at the Pentagon City mall.

The cool parties for you and your kids are all about activities for your kids and you to do together to help children cultivate their creativity and shine a light on their own talents. You will enjoy:

  • A series of special art projects designed by Merrilee Liddiard of the crafty blog Mer Mag. Kids will create geometric masterpieces on canvas using paint and tape, as well as design their own custom journals.
  • A preview of the GapKids and babyGap fall collections, including Jewel Box Skinniefor girls (age-appropriate skinny jeans in bright stretchy denim) and Action Stretch Denim for boys (denim designed to move with the guys for sports and play).

Check out this cute video from GapKids showcasing the new fall styles.

I hope you have a great time at one or more of these super Shine on Saturday parties!
