Imagination Stage Free Classes on Saturday September 7

This coming Saturday September 7 from 9am-1pm, Imagination Stage in Bethesda is offering a slew of free sample classes for children age 1-10 years. Sample classes are about 20 minutes in length, and give students and families a taste of the Imagination Stage classroom setting. The classes are not drop-off events — kids must keep their caregivers with them during the classes. Pre-registration is highly-recommended, as limited spots will be available day-of. Irish Dance with the Culkin School

Introduce your kids to the warmth and fun of the Irish culture through the magic of Irish dance! Join the Culkin School of Irish Dance and be a part of a rich tradition that combines artistry and athleticism. Beginner classes for children ages 5-10 are starting September 14, in Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring and Kensington. The Culkin School has been a premier Irish Dance school in our area since 1997, with a mission to pass on the tradition of Irish dance, teach the basics of dance and music it is danced to, and to have fun while learning. Small Group Art Instruction with Courtney Miller Bellairs

Courtney Miller Bellairs, a Silver Spring artist and art teacher, has limited space in her renowned observational drawing and painting classes for students age 8 years through adult. Classes occur on Mondays or Tuesdays and begin on September 23rd. These semi-private art classes are for serious young people who, “…would like to explore their potential and/or receive instruction and nurturing for their gifts, apparent or undiscovered,” says Miller Bellairs. Freehands Craft Studio in Silver Spring

Knitting, quilting, paper crafts, beginner sewing for tweens/teens and jewelry crafting for kids classes are enrolling now at the newly-opened Freehands Craft Studio in the Woodmoor Shopping Center. Additionally, local artist Cynthia Farrell Johnson will be giving a parent/child workshop on collage on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 2-4pm. Other events include monthly open knit and open sew nights. You can also plan a craft party at their space!
