Have the Coolest Summer Ever at Walt Disney World

coolest-summer-ever

Ray Charles sang that the night time was the right time to be with the one you love, but I say that SUMMERTIME is the right time to be with the ones you love … at Walt Disney World.

I just returned from an incredible summer press preview of the cool new offerings Walt Disney World Resort has cooked up for the Coolest Summer Ever. Although WDW hosted me as a media attendee, I could not resist bringing my husband Chris and kids Charlie, Eve and Alice along. Direct flights to Orlando from Washington airports are as low as $85 one-way May through September!

Special Summer Savings at Walt Disney World

WDW is also offering great deals on WDW Resort hotels this summer. (If you visit WDW, you *have* to stay in one of their resort hotels. You receive free transportation to and from Orlando airport, free transportation from resorts to all Disney parks and countless other savings and perks. Of course, this is not even taking into account all the magic, entertainment and luxury Disney resort hotels offer their guests.)

WDW special offers include up to 20 percent off select Value Resort Hotels (such as a Art of Animation’s Family Suites, which can sleep up to six adults — great if like us, you have more than two children,) up to 25 percent off select Moderate Resort Hotels and up to 30 percent off Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resort Hotels. This means you can book a 5-night stay at select Disney Moderate Resort hotels and it’s like getting the fifth night for free.

To snag these savings, book your WDW trip through June 12, 2015 for travel dates June 16 through Aug. 27, 2015. And if you feel overwhelmed by the vacation planning process, I know someone who can help

Coolest Summer Ever Fun Features

I had a blast making this goofy vid for you while experiencing the preview of the summertime celebration. Filming in front of Cinderella Castle, interviewing Disney imagineers (even as one is harassed by a “monkey,”) and riding thrilling rides all played a part in this compilation.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
NFS706065“Frozen” Summer Fun LIVE starts June 17 and continues daily through Sept. 7 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Frozen Royal Welcome is a daily parade throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf the Royal Arendelle Flag Corps and a flurry of skaters, skiers and ice cutters. Throughout the day at the Event Stage in the center of the park, Olaf shares bursts from his personal snow flurry to cool down guests.

In the evening on the Event Stage, favorite Disney Characters take to the stage to host the “Coolest Summer Ever” Dance Party, and then Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf come out again to host a Frozen fireworks display (and more snow, too.)

For the First Time in Forever: A “Frozen” Sing-Along Celebration, moves into the beautiful Hyperion Theater, in the heart of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Mitch of GayNYCDad and I sang out hearts out (sorry I sang so loudly, Mitch!) and cracked up as The Royal Historians of Arendelle provided a comedic retelling of the unique story of their kingdom, along with Anna, Elsa and Kristoff.

Preschoolers will be excited to learn that Doc McStuffins is now meeting guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! She used to only be available for “well visits” at character breakfasts and during the “Disney Junior, Live on Stage!” show, but now kids can meet her for a stand alone Disney Junior character meeting, along with Jake and Sofia.

Disney’s Water Parks

castaway-creek-gallery02Beat the heat at Disney this summer with this awesome new deal that doubles the fun: When guests purchase a one-day water park ticket, they can park-hop between the two water parks in the same day that both are open!

Teen and tween fans of the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie “Teen Beach 2” will enjoy the “Teen Beach 2: Beach Party” at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, featuring a DJ spinning retro tunes, beach-y themed games, hula hoop contests and more May 22 through July 5.

Magic Kingdom

On this visit my kids and I first experienced the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride. It was so smooth, so innovative and so thrilling! The kids also loved meeting Anna and Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall. We booked both of these coveted experiences back in Silver Spring, weeks before our trip, using FastPass+ and so did not have to wait in line!

Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade is the most entertaining and awe-inspiring parade I have ever seen. Flynn Rider swings from the rafters of the Snuggly Duck, Maleficient as a dragon breathes fire, princesses and princes wave from rotating tableaus, and my favorite part: Peter Pan and Wendy wave from the commandeered Jolly Roger.

IMG_2371Speaking of Peter Pan, the Peter Pan’s Flight ride has a delightful new interactive queue! Now when you get in line to for the Peter Pan ride you are transported into the home of the Darling family. You get to walk through Wendy, John and Michael’s nursery, recreated to include every detail from the film!  You will also interact with Tinker Bell and Peter Pan’s shadow. This is my all-time favorite ride, and the tour of the Darling kids’ nursery completely enriched the experience.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom keeps getting better and better! In addition to spectacular rides like Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids, Broadway-caliber shows of Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo – The Musical, a new shopping and dining option is Harambe Marketplace, a new quick-service food and beverage location offering street-inspired dishes from walk-up windows. There is also a new pathway from Africa to Bradley Falls and the Asia section of the park.

Epcot

Epcot’s new offerings this summer are all about entertainment. In Epcot World Showcase there is a choreographed flag-throwing team of Sbandieratori Di Sansepolcro n Italy, the Paul McKenna Band in United Kingdom, a Berber music and dance troupe from Marrakesh in Morocco, and axe-throwing-log-rolling lumberjacks in Canda.

I had the chance to hear the a cappella group Voices of Liberty who will be performing on the American Gardens Theatre stage.

Is that it for new cool stuff at Walt Disney World this summer? Not even close! This post was just becoming too long. If you got this far I wish I could personally hand you a Dole Whip Float to quench your parched throat. I will be sharing more excitement from Walt Disney World on the blog, so watch this space.

Disclosure: I was hosted by Walt Disney World to attend a media preview. I brought my family along, covering their transportation. We received lots of amazing invitations, perks and opportunities while there, however, no monetary compensation received. All opinions are my own.
