Luxury Family Hotel Near DC: The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City

DC Hotel for Families

If you are visiting the DC area with your kids, consider the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City for your home away from home. And if you already live in the DMV, I suggest you leave the dishes and the laundry behind and head to this local hotel for an awesome staycation with your family.

The A Parent in Silver Spring crew spent the night before Mother’s Day at this blissful, beautiful hotel and both the adults and kids had a marvelous time. We headed over the river to Virginia and enjoyed being 10 minutes from downtown DC and right on the Metro line for sight-seeing adventures, the fabulous shopping at Pentagon City Mall and just soaking up the splendor of the landmark Ritz-Carlton property.

Memorial Day Weekend at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City

The Ritz-Carlton is celebrating Memorial Day Weekend with its guests! All weekend the hotel is transformed to a carnival, complete with a magician for families, hot dog and popcorn carts, fresh lemonade, popsicles and special kids’ movie rooms!

Feel like heading for an overnight and joining the party? Rooms are available.

The check-in experience was fun for everyone: Champagne for the parents, crafts for the kids!

Family Suites

We adored our newly-renovated and schmancy suite with two bathrooms! My big smile below is due to not having to share a bathroom with the kids (although they really loved the king-sized parent bed!).

Gone Fishin’ Father’s Day Brunch

On Mother’s Day we experienced the amazing Mother’s Day Brunch, and we are considering coming back for the Father’s Day Gone Fishin’ Father’s Day Brunch event.

The Father’s Day celebration will also include a workshop where children will enjoy creating a special gift for their dad. Reservations Recommended. Please call (703) 412- 2762.

Afternoon Tea

Every Saturday from 2:30-4:30pm and Sunday from 3-4:30pm the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City hosts Afternoon Tea, complete with a kid option. It’s a legendary afternoon tea experience with homemade scones, tea sandwiches and pastry delights served with a selection of teas and classic champagne cocktails.

The Teddy Bear Children’s Tea is just $16 per person and features a selection of kid’s tea sandwiches, pastries and hot chocolate. The Petite Socialite is perfect for little divas celebrating a birthday, a special occasion or just in need of some sparkle. In addition to a private Afternoon Tea reservation for four in fyve Restaurant, the package offers edible glitter dipped fruit, delicate French macaroons, assorted miniature cupcakes, sparkling cider served in a champagne flute, $20 Simon Gift Card and tiara for each guest, and complimentary parking. The package starts at $65 per guest under 12 and $75 per guest over age 12.

For all Afternoon Tea reservations, please call (703) 412-2762.

Family Togetherness

All of these amenities were incredible, but according to the kids, their favorite part of the experience was when we all piled into the big bed and watched a movie and ate our turn-down chocolates. It was important and relaxing for us to get away from the obligations of home, work and school, leave the laptops behind and just be together!

My family and I received one night’s stay at Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City and Mother’s Day brunch. No additional compensation received. All opinions are mine.
