Our kids work on their mile times in PE at school, so The Navy Mile is the perfect distance race for a family fun run…and it’s happening this weekend on America’s Main Street, Pennsylvania Avenue!
Come on out tomorrow morning between 7-7:30am to sign up, and then run the 8am Family Fun Run portion of The Navy Mile with your kids. Bring your jogging stroller, the grandparents and your running attitude for a fabulous morning running past historic sites. You will run past the National Archives, the National Gallery, the Newseum and more with the Capitol ahead of you, inspiring you to run your best mile. The cost is only $10 for the Fun Run!
You can also run the Open Race in your age/gender heat category after running with your family. Registration will be open in the morning and with your registration price you receive an official Navy Mile Under Armour tech racing shirt!
The Navy Mile is only half the fun, as it will be accompanied on the Navy Memorial Plaza by an Expo that begins after initial heats in the morning. The Expo will feature a full slate of activities, including a push up challenge fundraiser for the Navy Safe Harbor Foundation, Teddy Roosevelt from the Racing Presidents, performances by the U.S. Navy Band Country Current and the Navy Ceremonial Guard. As with the run itself, the Expo is family-friendly and open to all.
Go to NavyMile.com for the full info and come on out tomorrow! All proceeds benefit the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Navy Safe Harbor Foundation, United States Navy Memorial and Navy charities.
Shout out to my dear friend Bethany Klein, the Executive Director of the National Capital Council of the Navy League. The Navy League is the foremost citizens’ organization to serve, support and stand with all the sea services – the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine.
