Set in 17th Century France, the story combines beautifully elaborate costumes of the Comédie-Française and Offenbach's "Gaiety Parisian" to adorn the tale of the cinder girl who captures the heart of the handsome prince.  The production was acclaimed at the 1997 National Puppet Festival, and performed by invitation at the Center for Puppetry Arts, in Atlanta.

A quest full of humor, genies, sword fights, diamonds, magic boats, and flying carpets ensues! The two young explorers cross the chasm of their differences to become fast friends and fellow adventurers for life.

The program will premiere six new works by young American choral composers from around the nation and each new commission will be paired with fantastic existing compositions for choir, including Samuel Barber’s “Under the Willow Tree”, Eric Whitacre’s “Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine” and Stephen Paulus’s “When Music Sounds.”  We hope to see you there!

IDs are not required to attend the event, however they will be necessary at the Jailbreak Brewing Company Beer Garden.

 

Where Can I Park?

Parking is available across the street in the Sherwood High School parking lot. Crossing guards will be on-duty to ensure everyone's safety.

The 21st annual Imagination Bethesda, a children’s street festival celebrating children and the arts, is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 10am-3pm. Musical performances and professional children’s entertainers will light up the stage, while hands-on art & craft activities will line the streets along Elm St. and Woodmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda.    Organized and managed by the Bethesda Urban Partnership, the festival will host 20 local businesses and arts organizations that will provide a variety of hands-on art and craft activities to entertain and energize the 12-and-under crowd.  Additionally, the festival will feature face painters, balloonists, a stilt-walker, free giveaways and more. Imagination Bethesda is a FREE event produced by the Bethesda Urban Partnership and is sponsored by MIX 107.3 FM, Washington Parent and Bethesda Magazine.

Join the Strathmore Children’s Chorus concert as they perform songs which stir the soul and lift the spirit. A residency with Dr. Rollo Dilworth, internationally lauded composer, conductor and professor at Temple University, will culminate in this thrilling program. The performance centers on an exploration of the American spiritual, framed by a selection of works from other traditions which harness the power of the spirit. Dr. Dilworth will join SCC as guest conductor, along with the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras, conducted by Kristofer Sanz, and Children of the Gospel Choir, a program of Washington Performing Arts. The concert will feature the world premieres of two new works by Dr. Dilworth, one orchestral and one choral, which have been commissioned by Strathmore Children’s Chorus and MCYO. Dr. Dilworth’s compositions have sold over one million copies and are performed at major venues throughout the world. Join artistic director Christopher G. Guerra and over 250 singers and instrumentalists for an inspirational evening of music guaranteed to delight all in attendance.

The one-day event is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, 2015, from noon to 5 p.m., and will include multiple stages of live entertainment, food, and themed activity areas for all ages and interests.

Celebrate! Gaithersburg in Olde Towne street festival takes place in and around the intersection of Summit and Diamond Avenues.

Free shuttle service is available to and from satellite parking at Lakeforest Shopping Center. Additional parking is available at theActivity Center at Bohrer Park, less than a quarter mile from the festival area.

Please note that no alcohol, skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, or pets are allowed at the event.

Sinbad the Sailor has retired from his notorious adventures. He tries to keep his feisty daughter Ittifaq safe from the sorceress Jan Shah. But when a mysterious cloud descends upon Baghdad putting all of the adults to sleep, proud Ittifaq must enlist the help of Sinbad the Porter, a street orphan whom she despises. A quest full of humor, genies, sword fights, diamonds, magic boats, and flying carpets ensues! The two young explorers cross the chasm of their differences to become fast friends and fellow adventurers for life.

Parking is available across the street in the Sherwood High School parking lot. Crossing guards will be on-duty to ensure everyone's safety.

The 21st annual Imagination Bethesda, a children’s street festival celebrating children and the arts, is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 10am-3pm. Musical performances and professional children’s entertainers will light up the stage, while hands-on art & craft activities will line the streets along Elm St. and Woodmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda.    Organized and managed by the Bethesda Urban Partnership, the festival will host 20 local businesses and arts organizations that will provide a variety of hands-on art and craft activities to entertain and energize the 12-and-under crowd.  Additionally, the festival will feature face painters, balloonists, a stilt-walker, free giveaways and more. Imagination Bethesda is a FREE event produced by the Bethesda Urban Partnership and is sponsored by MIX 107.3 FM, Washington Parent and Bethesda Magazine.

Join the Strathmore Children’s Chorus concert as they perform songs which stir the soul and lift the spirit. A residency with Dr. Rollo Dilworth, internationally lauded composer, conductor and professor at Temple University, will culminate in this thrilling program. The performance centers on an exploration of the American spiritual, framed by a selection of works from other traditions which harness the power of the spirit. Dr. Dilworth will join SCC as guest conductor, along with the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras, conducted by Kristofer Sanz, and Children of the Gospel Choir, a program of Washington Performing Arts. The concert will feature the world premieres of two new works by Dr. Dilworth, one orchestral and one choral, which have been commissioned by Strathmore Children’s Chorus and MCYO. Dr. Dilworth’s compositions have sold over one million copies and are performed at major venues throughout the world. Join artistic director Christopher G. Guerra and over 250 singers and instrumentalists for an inspirational evening of music guaranteed to delight all in attendance.

The 33rd Annual Celebrate! Gaithersburg Festival will draw an entire community to Gaithersburg’s historic city center. The one-day event is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, 2015, from noon to 5 p.m., and will include multiple stages of live entertainment, food, and themed activity areas for all ages and interests.

Celebrate! Gaithersburg in Olde Towne street festival takes place in and around the intersection of Summit and Diamond Avenues.

Free shuttle service is available to and from satellite parking at Lakeforest Shopping Center. Additional parking is available at theActivity Center at Bohrer Park, less than a quarter mile from the festival area.

Please note that no alcohol, skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, or pets are allowed at the event.
