The Work Out for Demitry

Mark your calendars for Sunday, Sept. 28 at Rock Creek Sports Club in Silver Spring for The Work Out for Demitry.

From noon to 3pm, the region’s finest instructors in spinning, yoga, pilates, hip hop cardio, interval training and zumba dance will donate their skill and time for an awesome group work out. Fortifying refreshments will be provided by Kirsten Shippey of Kirsten’s Café and Red Dog Café. The donation is $40 and 100% of the funds collected will go directly to Demitrius Behram-Farley, son of Jillian Behram and the late Jason Farely.

As you may have read previously on APISS, Jillian Behram’s world was changed on July 29th, the day her fiancé and father of her 16 month-old Demitry was killed in a motorcycle accident. Now raising her son unexpectedly on her own, Jillian needs the help of her community, and the work out is a fun, healthy, pro-active way to help her son and lift her spirits.

Participating fitness instructors include Kim Teri, Hyam Hosny, Rachel Cobbs, Judith Jankowski, Ricia Werner and event organizer and trainer Rachel Posell. Participants can come and do as much or as little of the workout as they like. Participants not able to attend can elect to “Skip the Work Out for Demity” and simply donate to Demitry’s care.

Event organizer, trainer and fellow mother Rachel Posell says, “When tragedy strikes a member of our community, we feel powerless and want to do something to help. At The Work Out for Demitry, we can all truly do something to help this young family, as well as have a good time and a great work out.”
