Corinne Keeps Us Cool: New Column on A Parent in Silver Spring

The wickedly smart and funny Corinne Gracyalny has joined the A Parent in Silver Spring staff to help keep the calendar up to date and packed with loads of awesome activities for families.

Corinne is a recent Maryland graduate who majored in communication, and as a fashionable woman in her twenties can contribute key coolness insights to us slightly-older parental units.

Recently she attended a book signing in Bethesda featuring Capital Girls series authors Marilyn “Maz” Rauber and Amy Reingold. The duo writes under the pseudonym Ella Monroe and remarked that Corinne looked much how they pictured one of their characters (a very cool compliment, IMO).

Scandal, Lies, & Socialites in the District

by Corinne Gracyalny for A Parent in Silver Spring

Capital Girls is the first book in this new series that crosses high-profile scandals and young, rich socialites in the District of Colombia. The books (by two local writers I had the pleasure of meeting at their book signing in Bethesda) have become a popular read for young adults and moms with fondness for YA fiction. I think the book is a great escape.

Think of a cross between Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars, set in the D.C. area. The first book centers on four young women caught in scandal, facing the mysterious loss of a friend, and the test of their friendship.

Secrets and Lies: A Capital Girls Novel, the second book in the series, will be released next month and is available for pre-order on Amazon. The story continues with a prep school in lockdown, stalkers, and more love life betrayal. A third book in the series, Truth or Dare, will be released this spring, but the authors are keeping lips locked for now on that story.

See for yourself how the young, rich, and famous hob knob in DC’s high society. You never know — the fabulous places the characters frequent might give you an idea for your next date night.
