Mini Maker Faire in Silver Spring 9/29 – FREE


Free family festival demonstrates creative and unusual projects  to encourage kids to explore their own curiosities and to make something new and different. 

The Silver Spring Mini Maker Faire is happening Sunday, September 29th at Veteran’s Plaza and the Silver Spring Civic Building in from12:00-5:00p.m. The Mini Maker Faire features free family activities and innovative projects created by inventors, scientists, tech enthusiasts, crafters, homesteaders, hackers, artists, and do-it-yourselfers of all kinds.

The Mini Maker Faire is presented by KID Museum, an emerging museum in Montgomery County which aims to cultivate creativity, curiosity and compassion through interactive exhibits and hands-on learning for children of all ages. Silver Spring’s own Discovery Communications, Montgomery County Recreation, MAKE magazine and other local organizations are also sponsors.

Demos and activity areas include:

  • Make and race your own lunar Rover with NASA scientists
  • Experiment with 3D printers & vinyl cutters
  • Build a giant marble run
  • Use recycled materials to create new toys
  • Experiment with robotics
  • Make your own computer game

The Faire will feature two performance stages as well as interactive activities for children and adults of all ages.
