Spring Break Camps with Montgomery Parks

You are not too late! There are still camps open for Spring Break 2014. Sign your kids up today!

Montgomery Parks, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, wants to help make kids and parents happy this spring by offering a host of fun, affordable and convenient programs. And that includes those hard-to-find (and tough to remember with all this winter snow and schedule craziness!) elusive Spring Break Camps.

Montgomery Parks has a variety of camps running during the Montgomery County Public Schools spring holidays April 14-21. The camps are available for students ages 5 – 13 including archaeology camp, Hooray for the Bay – all about the Chesapeake Bay, ice skating camp, tennis “boot days” (which are available by individual days or for the entire week) and Spring Week in the Park featuring sports, skating and arts and crafts.

A complete list of the spring break camps is available online, with details and information on how to register, at http://www.montgomeryparks.org/activities/things_to_do/summer_camps2.shtm.

And if you are hanging with your kids while they are out of school, note that the trains, boats, mini-golf and more re-open for the season! Our family favorites include the miniature trains at Cabin John and Wheaton Regional Parks, the carousel at Wheaton, boating at Lake Needwood and Black Hill Boats, Olney Manor Skate Park and Little Bennett Campground.

Now is also a perfect time to start signing up for Montgomery County summer camps. Summer camps that have been winners with my children in past summers include  archaeology camp at Needwood Mansion and nature camp at Meadowside Nature Center.

Happy camping!
